Wanted to share something positive today, as it has been somewhat of a somber week. Music is the great uniter, and I know the right tune can make my mood do a quick 180. This playlist was made in Bali, adding as our adventure went along. The vibe is surf-y, mellow, mid tempo songs, with worldwide influence. Please enjoy …and remember to spread the positive vibes ❤

Vamanos! We’re off  to Mexico for a white SAND Christmas. Although I’ll have to admit I am a little sad to be missing my hometown festivities, I’m stoked to hang with the fam and drink a margarita (or two, or three). We’re Mexico fanatics, and usually venture to Isla Mujeres, or Baja, but opted for Playa Del Carmen this year. I’ve never been to this part of Quintana Roo, and plan to visit a couple of cenotes, dine at a few choice restaurants recommended by friends, take a day trip to Cozumel, and dance 2014 away on the beach with Odeza in Tulum. Above are a few of the essentials Im taking along…Note I will not be checking a bag and we’re staying 8 nights (bikinis don’t take up much room).  I’m temporarily retiring the pink weekender that my Dad gave me about 15 years ago. It’s been all around the world with me (like seriously everywhere…even Nepal), but it’s a little, uh, tired looking. I’ll never throw it away but decided it was finally time for an upgrade, and this rad Stela 9 embroidered beauty was the one. When you know, you know. When I saw this Mara Hoffman Bikini at Principessa in Venice it was love at first sight, and the fact that it’s reversible to black helped solidify the decision. Thrifed pom pom shorts are perfect, and fun to be paired with most anything either casual or dressy. SIN-MIN, my fave chapstick, because it’s the bomb, and its horchata…fitting. Not Soap Radio travel bath gels are fun, portable, and smell insanely good. Not to mention there’s one for everyone in the fam. Sunnies and PASSPORT! Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano Nuevo mis amigos…Adios!

Portland Bound

We are Portland bound, about 10 of my girlfriend’s and I that is. We’ve got a few fun dinners, a hike, and wine tasting on the agenda for this Pacific Northwest trip, to celebrate Ash’s 30th birthday in style. Although I’ve visited Seattle a few times, I haven’t had the pleasure of exploring Portland yet, and am excited to eat my way through this scenic city. Follow the trip on Instagram: @halleys_comet

Chocolate-Mast Brothers // Bluebird Two Sunglasses-Dita // Auto Bingo Cards-Toy Smith // Rosewater Spray-Heritage Store // Rose Vintage Scarf-Nordstrom // The Goldfinch-Donna Tartt // Still Water-Acqua Panna

This past weekend we moved to Los Angeles. Packed up my little car and the dog, and drove out West. I’ve been wanting to come to the West Coast for a few years now, and am feeling at peace that we are finally here, safe and sound. I’ve complied a list of items that we packed, making the trip easy and fun. Needless to say the “auto bingo” cards were a great hit, providing ongoing laughs and friendly rivalry. A good book for your break from driving, a scarf that can be tied on the head or neck (or in my case, rolled up in the window for some shade), and sunglasses are a must-have.  Don’t forget to pack tons of water and of course some chocolate. Check out some more road trip fun here.  ***Thanks to my girl Sally for the rad picture edit ❤

Heading Out to Explore Phoenix

This was our first time staying at the Saguaro Scottsdale, the second time staying at a Saguaro property (see our Palm Springs post-Coachella adventure here). It’s always super fun and colorful, so when we needed a place to stay after the Motet show and noticed there was a room available on Hotel Tonight, we had to book it. Not only does this hotel have superb restaurants (run by Iron Chef Jose Garces), cool bars, and hip decor, they’re also pet friendly (dogs under 30 lbs), and offer yoga, and beach cruiser rentals…free of charge. Although we pulled the teardrop, its always nice to have a shower and king size bed for a night and usually book something, especially if were going to be dancing all night at dusty festival grounds. I can now safely say that my days of booking hotels ahead of time are over. Hotel Tonight has really hooked it up on this trip… Use promo code “HBEBOUT” for $25 off your first stay, refer a friend and receive another $25, and thats off heavily discounted prices on the coolest places to rest your head.

We love our guys don’t we, but why is it always so hard shopping for them??? I try to think functional, essential items, that they may not buy for themselves. Above are a few tried and true gifts for your man, for instance, every guy needs a dopp kit. Travel, sleepovers, weekends away, this is the perfect small storage bag for all of his toiletries. Hats are great gifts (as are scarves), they keep you warm, and your guy will think of you every time he puts it on. As far as more personalized gifts, think of what his interests are (musician, snowboarder, cook?) and tailor your gifts toward those.
