Ever notice that when you look good you feel good? Conversely, The same is true. When you feel good, you look good. It’s a healthy cycle that feels amazing when you’re in a good rhythm, but that’s easier said than done.  I’m always more motivated to get in the gym/run outside/do yoga (and such public exercises) when I’ve got gear that fits well, and looks cool. Naturally, I choose mostly black, because when investing in more expensive workout clothes, I like to think that the more basic, the more versatile they will be. Black leggings will go with everything, and are obviously more flattering. A neutral bra with a cute print is the same. I’m averse to the neon/reflective and totally nauseating workout clothes making a comeback, because the last thing I want to do is stick out like a traffic sign in the middle of the gym. If you’ve ever made the long walk from the cardio room through the weights to the locker room, you know your tight-ass pants can leave you feeling like, for lack of a better term, a piece of meat. I’m not trying to call attention to myself at the gym in LA, where that walk feels more like the last judgement…I’m keeping things on the DL. My last tip is that it’s important to purchase pieces that that translate from gym to everyday outings, and ones that can be used for other activities besides sports. In So-Cal, its completely appropriate to wear a cute pair of cut out leggings (shown above), with a nicer comfy tee and cute bralette, outside of the gym. Add an oversized tote that doubles as a grocery bag and you’re set. It’s comfy-chic, and looks effortless…because it was.

I’ve never been a fan of the “no white after Labor Day” rule, which doesn’t even apply anymore, and love a crisp pop of white in the form of an accessory any time of the year. We’re headed to Colorado this weekend, and snow is on the forecast so I’ve complied a list of my fave winter white accessories. Above are a few musts (and a couple lusts…McQueen bag I’m looking at you) that are perfect travel companions. This razor bracelet is on my list, and coming in at $88, is an affordable McQueen accessory in contrast to aforementioned bucket bag. RGB’s nail lacquers are formaldehyde, toluene, and dbp, free and is quite possibly the easiest accessory change-up you can make. Nirvana White perfume by Elizabeth and James has hints of peony, muguet, and musk, and is understated but still fragrant. I love carrying the rollerball in my purse (it’s portable and meets TSA guidelines), but if you prefer no liquid, a solid perfume is also available. Good headphones are completely necessary for waiting at your gate, as well as blocking out the screaming baby in aisle 6. I love these Frends headphones bc they are noise blocking even if you don’t want to listen to music (perfect for napping). Mophie Juice Pack phone case doubles your phone’s battery life, and is great especially if you cant find anywhere in the terminal to plug in your phone. A mini brush (Mason Pearson the best), good pen (Poppin gel pen-also amazing), and a small pouch by Delfonics to keep your odds and ends organized are also helpful.

bag finallllllllll

Agave Lip Mask-Bite // Creamy Concealer Kit-Bobbi Brown // Eau Rose Rollerball-Diptyque // Lavender Essential Oil– Young Living // Detangling Brush-Mason Pearson // Gear Ties-R.E.I. // New Audrey Sunglasses-Celine // Ella Earbuds-Frends // Gabrielle Pocket Phone Case-Kate Spade

What’s in my bag (more like suitcase these days) the things that make living life easier, or at the very least, a little more organized. I can’t stop raving about this Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask, it’s a lifesaver in this arid high desert in which I reside, and routinely put it on every night right before I turn out the light. Oh lavender oil. Lavender essential oil has become the one product that is perpetually in my bag. Lavender is an adaptogen, and therefore can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances. It’s versatile in that it can aid in both de-stressing and re-energizing, perfect for a quick pick me up, or acts as a calming agent in everyday stressful situations. I love to put it on my pillow before bed, and has become a nightly ritual (quite like the lip mask). As far as beauty goes, a small hair brush and bit of concealer go a long way in a need-to-get-ready-quick pinch. I have found that the Mason Pearson mini brush is a purse-perfect size, and this wonder working concealer can hide any signs of the debauchery that occurred the night before (these oversized Celine sunglasses do the same). On the more organizational side, a phone case that doubles as a business card carrier is perfect for networking and serves as constant reminder to restock your cards (genius, right?). Ear buds from Frends that come with their own nifty carrying case are great to have on hand to eliminate any unwanted noise in line at the grocery store, coffee shop, airport, etc… perfect to drown out that crying baby in aisle 17 (and they’re cute too). Plus I just appreciate any product that comes with its own carrying case. If not, gear ties come in handy. Flexible ties that will keep your cords, hair ties, life, kempt.

This Week

This week Im off to Texas for a couple of days to spend time with family. My Aunt and Uncle are foodies to say the least so Im looking forward to a bit of indulgence in that arena. After that its straight to LA for some girl time, and of course, the beach. The hardest part about a vacation, is getting there. Id say Ive done my fair share of traveling both domestically and internationally, and above are some of my favorite tried and true travel essentials. First of all you need a functional bag… wait, it has to look good too! This Foley and Corrina leather bag fulfills both the functionality and aesthetic requirements. Carry it as a hand bag or use the shoulder strap and it turn into a tote. Its big enough to fit all of the above items, with room for extras such as a camera (and the buttery leather doesnt hurt either). I always take along a a scarf when traveling, to throw on in the freezing plane, use as a pillow etc. Flying usually involves some wait time, and I like to have a notebook to scribble thoughts/recipes, and a nice pen to do it with. As far as food, its a good idea to pack snacks to ward off hunger and the temptation of a wafting Cinnabon aroma, nuts do the trick. For longer flights, earphones and a sleep mask are a must for naps and nipping jet lag in the bud. As far as delays and weather, cross your fingers and, good luck!
