I’ve never been a fan of the “no white after Labor Day” rule, which doesn’t even apply anymore, and love a crisp pop of white in the form of an accessory any time of the year. We’re headed to Colorado this weekend, and snow is on the forecast so I’ve complied a list of my fave winter white accessories. Above are a few musts (and a couple lusts…McQueen bag I’m looking at you) that are perfect travel companions. This razor bracelet is on my list, and coming in at $88, is an affordable McQueen accessory in contrast to aforementioned bucket bag. RGB’s nail lacquers are formaldehyde, toluene, and dbp, free and is quite possibly the easiest accessory change-up you can make. Nirvana White perfume by Elizabeth and James has hints of peony, muguet, and musk, and is understated but still fragrant. I love carrying the rollerball in my purse (it’s portable and meets TSA guidelines), but if you prefer no liquid, a solid perfume is also available. Good headphones are completely necessary for waiting at your gate, as well as blocking out the screaming baby in aisle 6. I love these Frends headphones bc they are noise blocking even if you don’t want to listen to music (perfect for napping). Mophie Juice Pack phone case doubles your phone’s battery life, and is great especially if you cant find anywhere in the terminal to plug in your phone. A mini brush (Mason Pearson the best), good pen (Poppin gel pen-also amazing), and a small pouch by Delfonics to keep your odds and ends organized are also helpful.

I always enjoy chocolate with the addition of chile, and while we were in Mexico over Christmas, I was reminded of a chile-chocolate torte that my Mom and I used to make. The Mayan people use chile and cinnamon in their drinking chocolate, chocolate bars, as well as cakes and desserts, and with good reason. It’s a perfect combination where the cinnamon sets off the chocolate flavor, and the chile adds a hot kick. This is an adaptation of the torte Mom and I made, and a recipe from Emeril, with just a few tweaks. In this batter I used organic cane sugar in place of granulated white sugar, replaced cocoa powder with raw cacao, upped the amount of ancho chile, and added cayenne (the batter wasn’t quite spicy enough when I tested it at first). I made it for our guests on Valentine’s day, and served it up with a homemade unsweetened cinnamon whipped cream, which was the perfect balance to the sweetness of the torte itself. Add a cup of good coffee, and your guests will fall in love…

We love us some Herbivore Botanicals. This small company based out of Seattle has grown leaps and bounds since our giveaway with them a year ago. It’s been fun to watch them grow within the URBN community, as they are now carried at two of our four stores (Free People, and Urban Outfitters). Whats so great about these facial oils you ask? Lets talk about Concentrated Moisture. In contrast to traditional cream moisturizers and lotions which tend to be high in water and emulsifying agents but low in effective ingredients HB’s facial oils contain no fillers and are formulated with only effective natural ingredients. They absorb easily to get moisture, vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants into your skin. Oh yeah, and everything from Herbivore Botanicals is  100% Natural. Everything they create contains absolutely no artificial ingredients, fillers, parabens, alcohol, animal ingredients, fragrances, sulfates, artificial colors, or unnatural preservatives. These facial oils contain oils that are cold pressed or steam distilled. Only the best! A rundown of each oil type:
