Giveaway: OLO Fragrance

olo 1Olo_1_largephotowinmeolophoto

This weeks giveaway is the fragrance “Lightning Paw” by OLO. OLO is a small line based in Portland Oregon, developed  and hand blended by perfumer Heather Sielaff. OLO Fragrance contains only a few ingredients including fractionated coconut oil, essential oils, key accords and absolutes. Heather was kind enough to send over a sample kit complete with every fragrance OLO has to offer, so I could choose the perfect scent for todays giveaway. After much deliberation, it came down to two scents; Foret and Lightning Paw. Lightning Paw was the eventual winner, described as “free-spirited and feminine without even trying to be, a reflection of her,” and that it is. Hints of bergamot, jasmine, patchouli, vanilla blend together in harmony, and leave sillage that is to be desired. Comment to win, and check out OLO’s site here

Patterned Sweaters

Floral Sweaters: Sheinside vs. Wildfox, Tribal Sweaters: Sheinside vs. Cynthia Vincent

Colorblock Sweaters: Sheinside vs. Joseph

I had been lusting over this Joseph knit sweater for a while, but $545 is a hefty price to pay for something that isn’t true outerwear. I found a great substitute (that I like even better) after a little searching. I love a good challenge in this arena, and I found a lot of sweaters (on this site) similar to spendy ones that I have had my eye on for fall. Its fun mixing luxe with less, and even better finding pieces at one tenth of the intended item’s price.

This weekend were headed up to Boulder for Homecoming at my alma mater (sounds so weird saying that), the University of Colorado. Ten of us have rented a house up by Chataqua park, and our friends are flying in from all over the West coast for a much anticipated reunion. Four years in Boulder was otherworldly and the Fall there is something else. The campus is set against a beautiful mountainous backdrop, the Flatirons jutting out of the hills. Right about now the Aspens are changing, and the air is crisp, perfect for scarves and cozy arm warmers. Our school colors are “black and gold,” but the gold is more of a mustard shade, making game day outfits easy. Accessorizing with a pop of yellow is usually the deal, so when I saw this Phillip Lim for target bag, I had to have it, and I have to thank Rose and Anchor for this amazing vintage Buffalo Nickel Necklace!

Midnight Magic

If you’re looking for an All Hallows Eve party playlist, look no further than Midnight Magic’s new album “Midnight Creepers.” With a steady bassline and groovy piano, the track “Beam Me Up” might just do, well that.  The group, originating in Brooklyn, definitely live up to their name, I’d classify it as funky-disco-ghoul. Oh, and their opening up for Holy Ghost tonight at the Bluebird, so that might be fun too…
