One of my favorite aspects of style is mixing new with old, and luxe with less. In this case, the skirt was the luxe buy, and the top a thrifted “less” item with the jewelry being of course, vintage. When I saw this Jen’s Pirate Booty lace number, I knew it would be mine. The lace is feminine without being too girly, and the high-low hem and slit up the back of the skirt adds just the right amount of interesting. I love emulating the Southwest look, and feel it is an integral part of my style, so visiting Santa Fe this week, I wanted to my look my best. Santa Fe is home to the infamous Palace of the Governers, where Native Americans come to sell their own jewelry designs (primarily turquoise and silver) as well as vintage pieces, so its always fun to go and look around. Trying to break out of my turquoise-as-usual routine (which includes everyday casual wear of my two favorite cuffs), moved me to don some of my more unique pieces for the occasion. The belt, and the squash blossom earrings featured here, are two items that definitely dont get enough air time, and have inspired new turquoise-studded outfits.
